La Ferme de l'Hermitière dans le temps
In 1785 cider was already made at “la Ferme de l´Hermitière”!
Like in the most of the farms in the country side, cider was the farmer´s drink. In 1812, my ancestry settled at "La Ferme de l´Hermitière”. He followed to use the cider press of the farm and so from father to son, the tradition and knowledge about cider making were transmitted.
At my grand-father time, the tradition of cider really started to develop thanks to the sale of some barrels of this nice drink to the neighbours from 1930 to 1940.
In 1950, my father owned the farm and some years later, he really started to increase the production of cider that he sold to groceries in the town near by of Granville. At that time, cider was the main drink of everybody!
From the sixties, with the development of supermarkets and the way of life changes, cider became out of fashion and the sale of cider want down! We needed to make up!
Consequently, my father began to battle cider to sale sparkling cider “Cru de l´Hermitière” and started to distil cider into calvados.
